2018 in Movies
Since late 2017, I've kept a running list of all the movies I've watched.
2018 was, start-to-finish, a very good year for Jeff at the movies. All in all, I tallied 61, starting with Call Me By Your Name on New Year's Day, and ending with Happy as Lazzaro on Boxing Day. Some other quick hitters:
- I saw 17 movies in theaters.
- The average year of release of the 61 movies I watched in 2018 is 2012.
- Thirty-one of the 61 were released in either 2017 or 2018.
- The oldest movie I saw (Blood Simple) was from 1984.
- I should probably make more of an effort to watch older movies this year.
- I watched only 5 movies directed by women. Ouch.
- I rated each movie on a scale of 1-5, allowing myself half numbers, too. The average rating I gave was 3.45 stars.
- I awarded five stars to three movies, and awarded one star to two movies (more on this in a separate post).
- January, September and December tied for most movies in a month (8), while March and August tied for fewest (3).
Make of these stats what you will. I'm glad I've kept the list, and will keep it going for 2019.
